#Honorable Mention

… … …
… … …
The SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS: From The 1980s Until The Start Of The 1993 Season, I Was A Major Fan Of The GIANTS. WILL "The Thrill" CLARK was THE MAN, As Was MATT WILLIAMS, Fo SHO!!! And YES, I Did Root For The GIANTS To BEAT The A's In The 1989 WORLD SERIES (aka "Earthquake Series"). Sadly, however, BARRY BONDS Left The PITTSBURGH PIRATES And Headed West, To The Greener-Pastures Of SAN FRAN. I Always HATED B.B., And That Became The "I HATE The GIANTS!" Rallying-Cry For Li'l Ole ME. I Bet Against Them During The 2002 WORLD SERIES, But (with Barry GONE) I Totally Bet For Them To WIN In The 2010 WORLD SERIES. I Won BOTH Bets. 😉
… … …
… … …
The PITTSBURGH PIRATES: These Dudes Were ALWAYS My Father's FAVORITE TEAM (and a little of that rubbed of on ME). We Used To Watch Them EVERY TIME They Played The ST. LOUIS CARDINALS or The CHICAGO CUBS or The ATLANTA BRAVES (since we get all three of those stations here in SoIL). The PIRATES Had A Horrid Habit Of "Playing Amazing Baseball To Get Into The Play-Offs" Followed Quickly By "CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE"!!! 😦
… … …
… … …
The NEW YORK METS: I Purchased My Very 1st METS Baseball-Cap In 1991. My Two Favorite METS Players In 1991 Were 3B/Utility-Man HOWARD "HoJo" JOHNSON and Their Closer JOHN FRANCO. And WHY Did I Take-Up The Cause Of The Lowly (at that time) METS? Because I KNEW That By Doing So I Was GUARANTEED To PISS-OFF SOMEONE!!! When (nearly) Your Whole Bedrock Of Family AND Friends Are Constantly Divided Between The CARDS and The CUBS... Yeah... A Little Of The Ole "Monkey Wrench Into The Works" Routine Is TOTALLY Called-For, Fo SHO!!! 😉

And…
Also…
All I’ve Heard Since My Last Post Is…
“San Fran Got SCREWED!”
“KC Made Out Like BANDITS!”
“How Could San Fran DO THIS?!”
And YES…
I Am VERY SINCERE in regard to My BLAHS!
Just To WAKE-PEOPLE-UP…
Even For A MOMENT…
Is Jonathan Sanchez TALENTED? Yes.
Is Jonathan Sanchez A STRIKE-OUT PITCHER? Yes.
I Can’t Deny Either Point, So I WILL NOT TRY.
HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER…
Is Jonathan Sanchez WAY WAY WAY OVERRATED? YES YES YES!
And…
Since People Seem To Be Making Their Statements Based TOTALLY ON PERCEPTIONS…
I’m Going To Post His CAREER STATS.
After Seeing Them, Perhaps A Few Of You WILL BACK OFF!
Statements Based On FACTS + PERCEPTIONS are FINE and 112% ACCEPTABLE.
PERIOD.
I Just Simply…
DO NOT IN ANY WAY Think Folks Have Ever Even CONSIDERED Checking The Man’s Numbers.
PERIOD PERIOD.
So…
Here. They. Are.

Yeah.
EXACTLY!
TWO (2) Winning Seasons…
Out Of SIX (6) Total Seasons.
THAT’S IT.
PERIOD.
Yep, He WAS 3-1 His Rookie Year.
And He Pitched That Year Almost TOTALLY Out Of The Pen.
And (also) YEP, His ERA WAS Almost 5!
BUT To Be Fair…
It Was His Rookie Year…
So We Can ALL Cut Him Slack There.
No Problem.
His 2nd-Season?
Well…
Pitched More…
SUCKED MORE.
BUT, He Did Have More Strike-Outs Than Innings-Pitched…
So I KNOW Some Of You Have Already Given Him A PASS For That Season, also.
I Cut Him A Little-Slack For That One.
And THAT’S ALL He Gets From Me.
Shall I Continue?
I DID Make Sure To Highlight Those Stellar Win/Loss Records AND Those ERA’s.
Ya Know…
For Those Of You Who Think I’m Being Crazy OR Harsh in regard to The Guy.
HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER (again)…
I DID Call It a (Maybe) Win (Maybe) Win for Both Clubs.
The Fact Most Folks Seem To Think It Was TOTALLY A One-Sided-Deal…
…In KC’s Favor, No Less…
Yeah.
Sorry Kids.
IT WASN’T One-Sided AT ALL.
Strike-Out Numbers Are Great, Yes.
The Fact Sanchez’s Only TRUE Winning Season As A STARTER…
Was ALSO The Year His TEAM Won The World Series?
Hmmm…
Yeah…
Hmmm INDEED.
He Does Strike-Out Almost 9.5 Batters-PER-GAME!
WOOHOO!
NICE!
Oh, Yeah, Right…
…and He Walks Almost 5 Batters-PER-GAME!
Not Jokin’…
I Promise.
Check The Stats, Please.
I’ll Wait.
I’ve Got Minutes.
People Say W/L Records Aren’t What REAL Students Of The Game Go By.
And You’re Right.
BUT…
ERA Is PRETTY IMPORTANT…
Correct?
M’Kay.
Glad We Agree There.
Sanchez Has Posted a SUB 4.24 ERA Exactly…
Hmmm…
OH, RIGHT…
ONCE.
That’s It.
ONCE.
Yet...
And...
Since I Really Don’t Wanna Fuel AND Fan More Upon More Flames…
I’m Simply Giving You The Link To MELKY CABRERA’s Stats.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cabreme01.shtml
Is He A GREAT PLAYER?
No.
Is He A Pretty-Good Player?
That’s A MAJOR-LEAGUE-POSSIBILITY-FO-FLIPPIN’-SHO.
He’s Been Up and Down, Sure Sure.
It Happens To Most Players During A Career.
Try Watching AND Paying-Attention to OUR GAME For A Few Years or So.
You’ll Watch It All Happen RIGHT BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES.
That’s A MAJOR-LEAGUE-PROMISE-FO-FLIPPIN’-SHO.
BUUUUUUUUUT…
2011 WAS A Break-Out-Season For Melky.
And Melky Is Now Hitting His PRIME–er’ish–YEARS.
AT THIS MOMENT…
I’d Take MELKY Over SANCHEZ In A HEARTBEAT.
The Giants SUCKED in 2011 Due To A LACK OF RUN SCORING!
The Royals SUCKED in 2011 Due To A LACK OF DECENT STARTING PITCHING!
It Appears BOTH TEAMS Are Attempting To ADDRESS THOSE ISSUES!
Wouldn’t YOU Agree???
I May Suck At Ending A Debate…
Hell, I Dunno…
The Debate WASN’T My Point.
Not My Point At All.
My Point…
My ONE and ONLY Point…
AND…
And…
The Numbers MAY Lead To An Incomplete-Answer At Times, Yes.
BUT…
The Numbers DO NOT LIE.
It’s Important To Comprehend The Difference Between Those Two Statements.
It “MAY” Save You From…
hmmm…
Something…
Sometime…
Somewhere…
“MAY” Being The Key Word.
😉
Check It Out…
(Pieces Of The Article) By Tim Dierkes —
The Royals acquired lefty Jonathan Sanchez and minor league starter Ryan Verdugo from the Giants for outfielder Melky Cabrera, announced the team.
Sanchez, 28, may have been a non-tender candidate for the Giants after a disappointing 2011 season that saw him walk 5.9 per nine innings and miss significant time with biceps tendinitis and a sprained ankle. The southpaw is tough to hit and has big-time strikeout numbers, but control has always been a problem. In Sanchez, Felipe Paulino, and Danny Duffy, Royals GM Dayton Moore has strong strikeout potential for three-fifths of his 2012 rotation. Sanchez projects to earn $5.2Million in 2012, after which he’ll be eligible for free agency. That he was traded for one year of Cabrera shows how much his trade value slipped during the ’11 season. Sanchez was set to battle Barry Zito for the Giants’ fifth starter job next year.
Cabrera had the opposite experience in 2011, as he had a resurgence after being non-tendered and signing a $1.25MM free agent deal. The 27-year-old hit .305/.339/.470 with 18 home runs in 706 plate appearances for the Royals, playing mostly center field. —

Yep.
It Happened.
Sanchez had a DOWN Season…
…and Got Traded Away…
…while Melky had an UP Season…
…and Got Traded Away.
While Some Are FUMED Over This Deal…
I’d Actually Call It More of a (Maybe) WIN (Maybe) WIN, type Deal.
Only Time Will Honestly Tell, Fo Sho Fo Sho.
hehehe
I Simply LOVE Making Up Almost Words That STILL Make Plenty Of Sense!
