…Purests Would (likely) Say…
ROGER MOORE As “JAMES BOND“

…Go Into It EXPECTING Pure-CHEESY-Goodness!!!
…In That Regard…
…It TOTALLY Delivers!!!
I completely agree. Moonraker isn’t up there with Goldfinger or From Russia With Love, but it’s a lot of fun and gets too much criticism from most in my opinion.
Totally, Dude, Totally!
Glad We’re On The Same Page, Fo SHO! 😀
At the time this movie was all the rage, the most popular Bond film ever. It boasted the largest stage set ever constructed to house “Moonraker’s” space station. For a film without CGI it had a lot of special effects. It does look dated, much of early Sci-fi does. The apes in “2001” look like guys in cheap suits, but without these efforts were would we be?
Excellent Points, Someone!
OOPS! Forgot this is my first visit. Maybe “Skyfall” will look dated to someone in the future. What will movies be then? Holographs?
Nah, It’ll Be Like Total Recall. We Won’t Be Watching Movies, They’ll Just Be Implanting The Memories Of The Movie Into Our Brains hahahaha
Brad, I’m a girl/female, as no doubt you are aware….. My partner is a boy/man, as you may or may not be aware… The bond movies, I think, are quite good (well, some are good and some are okay). My partner thinks that all Bond movies are good. I cannot say how many times he has watched them however; whenever he says “want to watch a movie?”… you can be sure that it will be followed with… “wanna watch a bond film?”. My standard reply is…. “Yeah sure, why not!?!”
My question is this…. 😛 Don’t you guys ever get tired of watching the same movies over and over again…?
I mean, Brad; I’m sure that my partner could even turn the sound down and do the talking for all of the characters in all of the Bond movies…. hahahahahahahaha… 🙂
And, I still think he’s about the sweetest man I know; even though obsessed… 🙂
If I Enjoy A Flick, I Have No Issues Watching It Again And Again And Again.
That’s The Joy Of The Movies.
If You Love Them, They Never Get Old 🙂
Argh and Oh….. Okay, guess I’ll just have to accept this difference between most guys and gals…
My daughter’s partner has a whole wall of DVDs, which are his most prized possessions. I will inform her of your comment so that, she too can accept what is right before her eyes…
Thank You Brad :p Already I feel more settled within…! 🙂
Really? You don’t think “Never Say Never Again” or “The Living Daylights” weren’t worse? I have a soft spot for Moonraker, as it was my first introduction to the world of James Bond. I read the book within the last couple years, and it was great–very different than the movie.
“Never Say Never Again” Is One I Don’t Count. It’s Just A Remake Of “Thunderball” (“Thunderball” is My Favorite Sean Connery Bond Flick btw) It’s Just Not As Quality As “Thunderball” But It’s Not Terrible. As For BOTH Timothy Dalton Flicks, I’ve Always Felt They Got A Bum-Rep. I Enjoyed “The Living Daylights” But I LOVED “Licence To Kill” As It Was A Much Grittier Bond Flick. And YES, I Did Like Timothy Dalton As Bond. He Played The Role VERY Serious. But “Moonraker” Is One I Truly Love, Though Most Peeps I Know Don’t Like It Much At All. I’m Just Happy To Have Found A Few Folks Who Love It For The Cheese-Tastic’ness It Brings To The Bond Table hehehehe
Wow. Sorry. I Got Long-Winded For A Moment.
I love Moonraker. It’s cheesy goodness has always made it one of my favorite Bond films. From fighting giant snakes to Jaws to that land-capable gondola, it just keeps getting better and better. Everyone should own this movie.
AGREED!!! Cheese-Tastic Fo SHO!
Moonraker was my first big screen Bond movie. I do hold a special place in my heart for it but sheesh it is truly “Cheese-tastic” for sure, man. Moonraker was indeed ambitious in many things like effects and sets. I have been reviewing the Bond films and I can’t wait to get to this one! lol. 😀 And Thunderball is a great Bond movie to like, Brad. I just picked up Never Say Never Again for review. Been a long time and like you, I dug Dalton. I wished he had done more.
Reblogged this on "You Jivin' Me, Turkey?" and commented:
So I’m Still In Total BOND-MODE, And While I Was Going To Watch “CASINO ROYALE” I’ve Decided To Go All-Out ROGER MOORE And Do Up A Little Hot “MOONRAKER” Action!!!
You May Hate It…
…But I LOVE IT!!!
I Get My Bond-Fix PLUS The Added Bonus Of Sci-Fi And Pure Fun Fun FUN!!!
So Why Not, Ya Know?!
Why Not, INDEED!!! 😀
Octopussy is my least favourite, Moonraker doesn’t rate highly though I’m afraid!
“Die Another Day” Is My Least Favorite.
“For Your Eyes Only” And “Thunderball” Are My Fave Faves, With The Newest Adventure “SKYFALL” Rounding Out The Top 3. 🙂
I can certainly understand DAD being down there! I really like FYEO, but I’m not such a fan of Thunderball.
My top Bonds are:
5. Live and Let Die
2.From Russia With Love
Now THAT Is An Excellent Top 5.
I Love All 5 Of Those Bond Epics!!!
No One Has Ever Put “GoldenEye” At The Top Of Any List I’ve Ever Read/Heard And I Find It Quite Refreshing In This Instance!
Excellent Choices All Around, Good Sir!!! 🙂
Haha, thanks 😀
Moonraker definitely is one of the campiest, silliest Bonds out there. And for those who are open to that brand of Bond (like me) it is a lot of fun, sure. But there are a number of Bond purists who want to see the series stick to genuine, straight laced, high quality films…. and I can totally understand why they detest this movie.
