Alright, My Peeps…
…Y’all Already Know Of My Love Of Classic Westerns…
…And Y’all Already Know Of My Love For JIMMY STEWART.
So…
…Why Not Make Mention Of…
…Yep…
…A CLASSIC JIMMY STEWART WESTERN!!!
You Got It, Kiddies!!!
So Let’s Mention…
“THE MAN FROM LARAMIE“
(1955)
…Starring…
JIMMY STEWART
…And…
ARTHUR KENNEDY
…And Directed By…
ANTHONY MANN
!!! !!!! !!!
Now…
…I’m Gonna Warn Ya, Kids…
…This Is NOT Your Typical JIMMY STEWART Western.
Period.
JIMMY STEWART Isn’t Your “Aw Shucks”, Lovable, Kindhearted Cowboy In This One.
No Sir.
No Ma’am.
Not At All.
“THE MAN FROM LARAMIE“
…Is Actually A Story Of REVENGE!!!
You See…
“WILL LOCKHART”
(JIMMY STEWART)
…Is In Search Of The Man Responsible For Selling Repeating-Rifles To The Local Apaches.
Why?
Because His Brother…
…A U.S. Army Cavalryman…
…Was Shot And Killed By Said Apaches With Said Rifles.
He’s Not After The Apaches…
…He Just Wants The Man Who Sold Them The Guns.
Period.
During His Little Quest…
…He’s Forced To Tangle With The Local Cattle-Baron And His Sadistic Son.
I’m Not Going To Give The Movie Away, My Peeps…
…BUT…
…I Will Say This…
…You’ve NEVER Seen JIMMY STEWART Like This, Before.
“THE MAN FROM LARAMIE“
…Was A Huge Departure For Him.
It’s A Solid Entry In Any Person’s Western Collection…
…And It’s One Of My Faves Of Faves!
Remember What I’ve Said Before About 1950s Westerns?
Well, The Same Applies Here.
They Sure Did Know How To Make A Rousing Western Flick, Fo SHO!!!
So, Kids…
…If You’re In The Mood To See A Western…
…With A Beloved Star Who’s Playing A Different Style Of Character…
“THE MAN FROM LARAMIE“
…Is A Quality Choice, I’ll Reckon!!!

I love a well-done Western.
And along those lines, “Rustler’s Rhapsody” (although a comedy Western) also features a beloved actor (Andy Griffith) in a very different role.

Yeah, I’ve Been A Fan Of Jimmy Since Early Childhood. My 1ST Jimmy Stewart Flick Was NOT “It’s A Wonderful Life” But Was “VERTIGO” And I Was Hooked Immediately. Then I Saw “THE SHOOTIST” (my favorite John Wayne flick but Jimmy is the Doctor that tells The Duke he’s dying of cancer). Now I Have Over A Dozen Jimmy Stewart Flicks hehehe
