It was hot as a mug in Lexington today. So hot in fact, that I couldn’t help but think of the great times I had in my hometown of Farmer City, Illinois. There was only one place to be in the middle of the hot and balmy Midwest summer – The Farmer City Public Pool. We spent our days not wearing sunscreen, mixing up Suicides (you’re old if you know what that is), trying to get a glimpse of Andi Huff in her red bikini, and listening to great 70’s and 80’s music. Here’s a short list of songs I have clear memories of – and if this thing gets any views, there just might be more next week.

And seriously, I’ve never posted this song before? I’m slipping.

The Song Stuck In My Head: “BELL BOTTOM BLUES” by ERIC CLAPTON (DEREK AND THE DOMINOS) (1970)

Bell Bottom Blues…

…You Made Me Cry…

…I Don’t Want To Lose This Feeling…

…And If I Could Choose…

…A Place To Die…

…It Would Be In Your Arms. …

…Do You Want To See Me Cross The Floor To You?…

…Do You Want To Hear Me Beg You To Take Me Back?…

…I’d Gladly Do It…

…Because…

…I Don’t Want To Fad Away…

…Give Me One More Day, Please…

…I Don’t Want To Fade Away…

…In Your Heart I Want To Stay. …

…It’s All Wrong…

…But It’s All Right…

…The Way That You Treat Me, Baby…

…Once I Was Strong…

…But I Lost The Fight…

…You Won’t Find A Better Loser. …

I Love ERIC CLAPTON And Most Anything He Does.

So It Hasn’t Come As A Great Shock To Me That His Music Often Gets Stuck In The Ole Brain.

This Morning…

…I Awoke CRAVING The Song…

BELL BOTTOM BLUES

by ERIC CLAPTON

(while he was fronting the supergroup DEREK AND THE DOMINOS)

…And I Sincerely Don’t Know Why.

I Didn’t Hear It At All Yesterday…

…Yet It Was Super Fresh In My Mind, This Morning.

And NOW…

…My Brain Is Locked-In.

It’s Focused.

That’s Something I Rarely Have Much Of.

So Why Is It Being Wasted On A Song?

A Song 10 Years Elder To Myself.

A Song I Haven’t Heard Recently.

A Song That Simply Intruded And Decided To Set-Up Shop.

I Frickin’ Frackin’ HATE IT When This Happens.

Mainly, Because I Want Some Sort Of Answer/Explanation.

And I Know There’s Not Going To Be One.

There (almost) Never Is.

So I Simply Try To Accept It All…

…And Carry-On To The Best Of My Ability.

Can’t Ask For Much More Than That, Right?!

RIGHT!!!

BELL BOTTOM BLUES

…Is A Fantastic Song.

Period.

It’s One Of Those Songs With The One Major Quality Of All Fantastic Songs…

…REPEATABILITY.

You Hear It…

…You Get Sucked In…

…You Play It Again…

…And Then Again…

…And Again And Again And Again.

Talk About A Song With Magical Powers.

In Regard To The Music Of The Early 1970s…

BELL BOTTOM BLUES

…Is One Of The ALL-TIME GREATS.

It’s An ALL-TIME GREAT Regardless Of When It Came Out…

…But It’s A True Gem From That Era.

If You’ve Heard The Song Before…

…Chances Are You Liked It.

If You’ve NOT Heard The Song Before…

…It’s Totally About Time You Did, Kiddies.

😉

Monday Is Here, My Peeps.

Let Us Attempt To Make It A Decent One.

That’s Much Easier Said Than Done…

…But Totally Worth The Effort.

I’ll Be Pestering Y’all More And More Throughout The Day, Fo SHO!

Until Then…

😀
