    • To Me, That’s A Minor Flub/Flaw In A Flick I Otherwise Fell In Lust With, And Then In LOVE With, At A Young Age.
      I’ve Seen About 100’ish John Wayne Films…
…And “The Shootist” Remains My Fave-Fave.
But You ARE Correct. They Should Have Tried A Bit Harder With The Blood, Fo SHO.

  1. John Wayne’s last stand in real life too. I remember just before he died the newspapers featured a picture of the Duke with his shirt off to quell rumours of his illness. The shot used a soft lense but he did actually look like he was in pretty good shape. He died not long after.

I Just Finished Watching A Documentary On The Making Of “THE SHOOTIST” And Now I’m Watching The Flick Itself. So I Strongly Felt This One Deserved A Reblog.
Hope Y’all Liked This One. It’s A Personal Fave Fave FAVE!

  3. Hells yes.

Not sure if its his best. Not…. 100% sure. I know the “Critical Community” says “The Searchers” but I’m torn. This could be it. I do love it. GREAT movie, great pick Brad.

    • Thanks, Dude!
I’ve Seen About 50 John Wayne Westerns. I Own “The Searchers” And Think It MIGHT/MAYBE Be The Better FILM, But When It Comes To John Wayne’s Performance, I Think He Should Have Won His Oscar For “The Shootist” And Not “True Grit”. And In Regard To “True Grit”, His Performance Was Even Better In Its Sequel, “Rooster Cogburn” 😉 It Just Personal Opinion, Of Course. But I Don’t Know Any Other Opinions I Enjoy More Than My Own. =D hahahahaha

  4. I also think this is his best western movie.

“The High and the Mighty” is another must see now that it is on DVD.
